"Four Nations Tournament" for prizes of BelSwissBank
February 10-11, 2012 in the "Minsk-Arena", an international tournament was held with teams from Germany, Slovakia, Switzerland and Belarus - "Four Nations Tournament” for prizes of Bel SwissBank took place.
Competition was held in two stages. On February 10 on the ice of "Minsk-Arena" the teams from Switzerland and Slovakia played, in the teams from Belarus and Germany played. The second stage, which took place on February 11, the losing teams from the first stage played for the bronze medal, and two winners met in the final.
As a result of the first stage two games played, the team from Switzerland , won by beating the team from Germany 1-0. The teams from Belarus and Slovakia had to play in the finals for the main prize in the tourment.
Despite the fact that in the final match, our team lost to the Slovaks 1-5, the Belarusian athletes were able to demonstrate a high level of play.
The winner of the tournament - The Slovakian team was awarded by the General Sponsor with the check for 15 thousand francs, the team from Belarus - 12 thousand francs, the Swiss team - 8 thousand francs, and the German national team - 5 thousand francs.
In memory of the deceased Locomotion hockey team which occurred on September 7, 2011 in a plane crash, which included a former national team captain Ruslan Salee. At the tournament in Minsk, the Belarusian national team played without a captain. Until April 2012 World Championship Ice Hockey the team asked to temporarily leave the post of captain open. Therefore, this time Belarusian team played with three assistants of the captain, whose role played Konstantin Koltsov, Aleksei Kalyuzhny and Victor Kostyuchenok.
"Four Nations tournament for prizes of Bel SwissBank in Minsk became the next stage of preparation for the 76th World Championships to be held in Finland and Sweden, from 4 to 20 May 2012.
